Guardianship Primer
This class will be held both virtually and in-person in Fairfax. Please select your attendance type when you register.
The in-person session will be held in the Mazawey Education and Support Center, 3955 Pender Drive, Suite 100, Fairfax, VA 22030.
Virtual attendees will receive Zoom information prior to the class.
This program is a part of our monthly Care Partner Training series. All sessions are FREE, and held the second Wednesday of each month from 1:00 to 2:30 pm.

Presenter
Alexis R. Abraham, Esq.
Alexis R. Abraham is an associate with Bronley Law, PLLC, and she is licensed to practice law in Virginia. Alexis’ primary areas of focus are trust and estate litigation, probate, trust and estate administration, representation of executors and other fiduciaries, representation of heirs and beneficiaries, estate planning, guardianship proceedings, capacity and elder care issues and proceedings before the Offices of the Commissioners of Accounts. Prior to joining Bronley Law, Alexis worked at a boutique law firm focusing on trust and estate matters.
Alexis earned her Juris Doctorate degree from George Mason School of Law in 2019, and she received a B.S. in political science from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2014 where he graduated Magna Cum Laude. Alexis is a member of the Fairfax Bar Association, Virginia Women's Attorneys Association and Virginia Academy of Elder Law Attorneys. Alexis is the Co-Chair of the Fairfax Bar Association’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee.
Alexis is passionate about advocating for access to justice and routinely participates in the Fairfax Law Foundation’s Housing Advocacy Clinic and Wills on Wheels. In 2021 Alexis was named Pro Bono Attorney of the year by the Fairfax Bar Association.
In her free time Alexis enjoys outdoors activities such as camping, hiking and rock climbing. Alexis is a sports fan and plays in a recreational softball league.

1.Dining Room & Kitchen
Coming in the participant entrance you enter the dining area and kitchen, a spacious area with seating for 60.

2. Art Therapy Room
A separate room provides dedicated space for art therapy, as well as arts activities throughout the week.

3. Main Activity Room
The main activity room provides a large space for big group programs, and can be divided for smaller activities for our Blue and Orange groups.

4. Multi-Sensory Room
This room uses sensory stimulation to calm those who are agitated, or awaken those in the later stages of the disease.

5. Shower & Bedroom
Showers can be provided in a separate bathroom. The bedroom and nurses station all adjoin to provide optimal care.

6. Open Floor Plan
The day center layout is designed for dementia; conducive to wandering with no dead ends.

7. Later Stage Activity Room
Coral participants receive individualized activity plans and more one-on-one assistance with activities.

8. Outdoor Space
1,000 square feet of outdoor space with areas for gardening, active games, activities, and conversation.

9. Education & Seminar
Dedicated seminar space for educational programs, support groups, workshops and more!

10. Early Stage
Dedicated, separate space for our early stage programs, Reconnections and the Mind and Body Workshop.
