Taking Care of Yourself: Tips for Survive Caregiving

Description: Taking care of yourself is one of the most important things you can do as a caregiver. Caregiving is not easy — not for the caregiver and not for the person receiving care. It requires sacrifices and adjustments for everyone. Often, family caregivers must juggle work and family life to make time for these new responsibilities. Join us as we discuss extra tips to help you along this journey.
Dawn Jefferson, Education and Support Coordinator at Insight Memory Care Center will be facilitating this workshop.

Fairfax Improv for Movement & Memory
4th Wednesdays from 1pm to 2pmClick Here For More InfoDescription: Come have fun and learn all about improv and the power of "Yes And..." The spontaneous and playful nature of improv stimulates creativity, memory recall, and verbal expression, helping to keep the brain engaged. Because improv focuses on the present moment rather than past experiences, it allows individuals to participate without fear of making mistakes, boosting confidence and reducing frustration.
Individuals with memory and movement disorders are welcome to attend with a family member or friend. No experience needed!

Memory Cafe at Falls Church Arts

Broad StreetFalls Church, VA 22046USClick Here For More InfoDescription: The café is an opportunity for caregivers and their loved one with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) or in the early to early mid-stage of their dementia journey to meet with others for support, companionship, and fun! The program provides structured activities to promote reminiscence, cognition, and engagement. There is also time to share in conversation and get to know others in a safe, supportive environment.
The Memory Cafe at Falls Church Arts meets on the second and fourth Fridays of the month. This group is offered in partnership between Insight and The Kensington Falls Church. Insight staff will lead engaging brain games during the 2nd Friday session, and Sally Evans, Falls Church Arts Instructor will lead arts activities during the 4th Friday session.
To ensure we have space and program supplies for each participant, we ask that you please register in advance. We look forward to seeing you at the next cafe!
